Exceptional Image Quality
Most autonomous live camera systems require a video management system (VMS) and storage on-board the camera. Mobotix and AXIS cameras meet these requirements.
Mobotix cameras include an embedded VMS. For storage, Mobotix cameras support up to 512GB SD cards. The power requirement for Mobotix outdoor ready cameras is 5-7 watts. This combination of features and functionality make Mobotix our most popular camera for battery powered projects.
AXIS offers a very wide range of cameras that include fixed cameras up to 33MP image size, thermal cameras and many pan-tilt-zoom models to choose from. AXIS cameras do not include a full featured VMS, however, AXIS is one of a few manufacturers that is supported by Exacq Edge VMS, which can run on-board an AXIS camera.
Another VMS option to consider for a stand-alone camera system is to run a VMS and storage on an embedded fanless industrial computer with a solid state drive (SSD). This does require an outdoor rated NEMA enclosure to provide protection from the elements, and increases the system cost due to additional components and related increase in power requirements.
A single Mobotix camera functions as a COMPLETE, stand alone, highly advanced video security or surveillance system. Mobotix designs and builds the entire end-to-end camera system, all hardware and software is built in Germany. Hundreds of important and powerful features are embedded at the camera level. Mobotix network cameras require no housings, no heaters and no fans. No moving parts to fail. All software is included at no additional charge.

Thermal cameras operate in zero light conditions
Thermal with Analytics
Thermal cameras are a good option to consider for an intrusion detection system. Thermal imaging cameras do not require any additional lighting systems as they detect and deliver heat signatures from humans, vehicles or other objects. Thermal cameras work in situations like heavy fog/snow/rain that a visual camera might miss.

4G/LTE cellular systems are most often used when a point-to-point wireless system is not feasible. 4G/LTE cellular systems typically work anywhere cell phone coverage is available. Unlike a point-to-point wireless system, cellular systems do not require aiming antennas, do not require clear line-of-site between sending and receiving radios, nor do they have mounting height issues. For solar calculations the power requirement for a cellular router is about 8 watts.
Our solar powered 4G/LTE cellular camera systems are easy to deploy. Prior to shipping, we pre-configure and fully test your system using the cellular data account that you will provision. You pay your cellular provider their monthly fee. We recommend Verizon whenever possible as this is the easiest system to implement.
Note: It is often not practical to stream live video via 4G/LTE directly to a video recorder, due to the cost of data. The most common tactic is to do image processing and video analytics onboard the camera, save video clips to an SD card onboard the camera or to a solid state drive on a fanless embedded industrial computer.
Our enterprise cloud manager provides system health monitoring, proactive alerts and device notifications
Real time reporting enables you to better understand how your cellular communications system is performing. Alerts will notify you of:
4G/LTE modem connectivity issues
Data usage thresholds for wireless data plans
Failed login attempts and modem removal, which can indicate physical or cyber security breaches
Unauthorized users or configuration changes
Point-to-point wireless camera system
Pair of Radios for Point-to-Point Wireless Link
A wireless camera system often uses a point-to-point wireless system. Distances up to 20 miles are possible using high-powered radios with dish antennas. Best performance requires operating in the 5.8Ghz spectrum with clear line of sight between sending and receiving radios. Alternative frequencies are 2.4Ghz or 900Mhz, which can penetrate some degree of obstructions (trees, walls, etc.).
Notes:
A point-to-point wireless system requires a minimum of 1 pair of radios, 1 to send video and 1 to receive video. The receiving radio (also referred to as gateway radio or gateway node) is most often located at a facility that has high-speed internet service, which allows live or recorded video to be accessed from any internet enabled device.
Systems may be accessed directly with an IP address with proper credentials, through a video management system or with Apps downloaded to Apple or Android devices.
Due to their unique codec and internal ring-buffer system, Mobotix cameras are particularly friendly to point-to-point wireless, 3G and 4G LTE environments with variable and unpredictable upstream bandwidth. The buffering system allows Mobotix cameras to recover from temporary interruptions or slowdowns in upstream connectivity by storing compressed image data in the buffer until the upstream connection is restored.
Satellite communications
Satellite System
If wireless or cellular service is not available at your project location, you may want to consider using a satellite system. Satellite systems will work in most locations that lack cellular coverage.
Go to camera location, retrieve video directly from camera
If you don’t have any type of remote communications available, a couple options to retreive video are:
Run cat5-e shielded cable down pole to a “J” box with ethernet port installed, plug cable into port to retrieve video
Install wireless access point at this location to access video via your laptop when within 200′ of camera location
Cameras require some light in order to operate at night. If there is zero light they won’t function. Some lighting options to consider are:
AXIS Q1765-LE with IR
Cameras with IR lighting built-in
Cameras with built-in IR LEDs are capable of delivering light to about 100′ maximum distance, although some PTZ cameras have IR lighting that is useful to up to 800′.
LED infrared, white or hybrid of infrared/white light
LED lighting systems offer the most flexibility and performance and are available in infrared light (IR), white light or hybrid of IR and white.
RayTec Vario IP
Raytec VARIO IP PoE series of network illuminators are fully IP controllable designed for all camera applications and general area illumination. VARIO IP offers the ultimate flexibility in terms of power input including both PoE (at standard PoE+) or low voltage (12/24V DC).
VARIO IP lighting provides remote access for quick and easy set up, commissioning operation and maintenance of your lighting scheme. Each VARIO IP illuminator has an integrated web interface enabling users to configure, manage and instantly control large lighting installations, from anywhere on the network.
SD card onboard camera storage
Most of our camera systems can store images and video clips on-board the camera with an industrial grade 256GB SD Micro Card
Embedded fanless industrial computer with SSD drives
Another option to consider for a stand-alone camera system is to run a video management system (VMS) and storage on an embedded fanless industrial computer with solid state drives (SSD). This requires an outdoor rated NEMA enclosure to provide protection from the elements, and increases the system cost due to additional components and related increase in power requirements.
Hot Swap 2-Bay NAS
NAS or Windows server located at receiving end of point-to-point wireless link
If you have a point-to-point wireless system, the camera can send video to a NAS or Windows server at the receiving end where internet connection and gateway radio is located.
Off-site storage
Images and video clips can be sent to a server at a different location or “in the cloud”. The limitations for this method are available bandwidth if using 4G/LTE communications.
Long Range PIR
Passive infrared sensors are useful for detecting intrusions which can then be investigated with cameras (fixed or PTZ models). PIR sensors can be wireless, require very little power and can detect a human in zero light conditions at up to 400′ distance.
We can integrate ANY SENSOR TYPE into our systems.
IP Access Control
Access Controls for Remote Locations
Monitor and control doors, gates, storage units and cabinets with IP based access controls.
Ideal for solar powered projects due to low power requirement.

Off-Grid Power System Alternatives to Solar Electric!
Batteries are charged by AC power at night, eliminating the need for solar panels.
Consider battery powered camera systems for parking lots or highways where AC power is on at night for lighting, AC power is off during daylight hours.
As an alternative to solar power, parking lots or highways with AC power to pole mounted lights can be equipped with battery back up power systems. This system replaces the solar array for charging the battery bank.
The 12V DC batteries are charged at night when AC power is delivered to the lights, the batteries power the cameras and related subsystems during the day and night. 12V DC power is converted to 48 volt or other voltages with PoE injectors to power cameras and other devices.
Power where you need it
The colder the weather, the better TEG’s work!
Runs on natural gas, propane or butane.
Thermoelectric Generators (TEG’s) are designed to run on either natural gas, propane or butane. They range in output size from 5 to 550 watts. TEGs are very reliable, due to the fact that they have no moving parts. Rugged system designs, making them ideal for long-term unattended operation in remote locations that may be exposed to harsh weather conditions or where site visits are difficult.
Some common applications include:
Thermoelectric Generator
Oil or gas pipelines
Well sites
Offshore platforms
Telecommunications sites
Well automation
Monitoring equipment
Communications systems
How do thermoelectric generators work?
Thermoelectric generators are solid-state heat engines that operate according to the Seebeck effect – a theory that claims a temperature difference across thermoelectric material can be converted directly into electrical power.
Fuel cells provide reliable off-grid power, produce power 24/7 in any weather, climate or season.
Consider fuel cells as an alternative to solar power or working in conjunction with a solar electric power system.
Fuel Cells
Easy installation, theft and vandal proof
Fuel cells are lightweight, compact and can easily be installed into existing cabinets and outdoor boxes. When installed inside a suitable enclosure, the EFOY Pro fuel cell is safe from theft or vandalism.
Non detectable
Fuel cells are suitable for silent watch operations or easily camouflaged when integrated into surroundings that do not attract attention. A running, integrated fuel cell cannot be recognized from the outside. No vibrations, noise, exhaust or heat are detectable.
Emission free
Fuel cells have have minimal impact on the environment. Only small amounts of water vapor and CO2 are emitted
